Is the cabin directly on Crooked Lake?

Yes — Czech Mates Escape sits right on the shore of Crooked Lake. The cabin has a wall of windows overlooking the water, and the private dock is steps from the back door. You'll wake up to lake views and fall asleep to the sound of loons.

Is there a private dock?

Yes. The dock is private and exclusively for our guests. It's right on the property — no shared access, no walking to a marina. Kayaks and the rowboat are tied up at the dock, ready to go.

Are kayaks included?

Yes — 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, and a rowboat are all included with your stay at no extra charge. Life jackets are provided too. Just grab a boat and go.

Can we swim from the property?

You can wade in from the dock, but Crooked Lake is a quiet, natural lake with a soft bottom near shore — not a sandy swimming beach. For a proper swim, the public beach at Clear Lake State Park is 15 minutes away and has a designated swimming area with sand.

Is Crooked Lake an all-sports lake?

No — and that's exactly the point. Crooked Lake is a quiet, 89-acre lake with no jet skis, no motorboats racing around, and no marina. It's kayaks, paddle boards, and fishing boats. If you want peace on the water, this is it. If you need high-speed water sports, Clear Lake (15 min) and the larger lakes near Lewiston (20 min) have that.

Is the cabin pet-friendly?

We love pets, but the cabin is not currently set up for them. Please check with us directly before booking if this is important to you — we're happy to discuss options.

Is there Wi-Fi for remote work?

Yes. The cabin has Starlink satellite internet — reliable and fast, typically up to 200 Mbit. More than enough for video calls, streaming, and getting real work done. There's a dedicated desk and chair in the master bedroom, plus the kitchen table seats 6 if you need more space. Many of our guests work from the cabin during the week and unplug for the weekend.

How far are ATV/snowmobile trails?

Atlanta is a trail hub — state ATV and snowmobile trail access is less than 5 minutes from the cabin. Hundreds of miles of groomed trails run through the state forest surrounding the area. In winter, you can ride directly from nearby trailheads onto the network. More info in our snowmobile trail guide.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms depend on how you book. For Airbnb bookings, the listing's cancellation policy applies — you can review it during checkout. For direct bookings through our website, we offer a flexible cancellation policy. Contact us for specifics before booking if this matters to your plans.

What are check-in/check-out times?

Standard check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. Early check-in or late check-out may be available on request — just ask. We'll send detailed arrival instructions before your stay.

How does direct booking work?

When you book directly through our website, you skip the Airbnb service fee — which can be 10% or more. That means real savings, especially on longer stays. You get the same cabin, the same host, and the same experience. The booking is handled securely through Lodgify.

Are there extra fees?

The nightly rate covers the cabin, all watercraft (kayaks, paddle boards, rowboat), fire pit, Wi-Fi, and parking. A cleaning fee applies per booking. When you book direct, you avoid the Airbnb guest service fee — instead, there's a one-time processing fee per booking that covers guest verification and reservation protection through a third-party provider. Firewood is not provided — you can pick some up at the grocery store 5 minutes away.

Is there parking for trailers/RVs?

Standard parking for vehicles is included. If you're bringing a trailer or RV, there's room to park on the property. We also offer a full RV hookup on site for an additional charge — send us a message using the form below for details and pricing.
